Leveraging Next-Gen AMI and LV Data for Smarter Grid Orchestration: Balancing the Control Room and Edge

Join us on Tuesday, June 10th from 2:00pm-3:30pm to explore how utilities are increasingly adopting next-generation AMI, new possibilities arise for managing the grid more proactively, intelligently, and dynamically through real-time data and advanced analytics. At the same time, grid operators are working to enhance visibility of low voltage networks, potentially adding up to ten times more monitoring data to the control room. With this surge of next-gen AMI and low voltage (LV) data, is there such a thing as “too much” information? How “low" should the control room go, and what systems should be delegated control?

In this huddle, we’ll explore how AMI and LV data can serve as a powerful complement to an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), empowering control room operators to make more informed decisions and streamline control room operations. Through real-world examples, we’ll explore what functions are best managed at the grid edge versus in a centralized control room and share best practices for integrating these approaches to create a cohesive, highly effective grid orchestration strategy.
