Forecasting

Regression, Regression, Regression

June 10, 2021

For over 15 years, Itron’s forecasting group has been conducting free, live Brown Bag webinars on a variety of forecasting and load research-based topics and continues to host new webinars every quarter. More recently due to COVID-19, we have also conducted virtual sessions for our Annual Energy Forecasting Meeting, known to long time Energy Forecasting Group (EFG) members as the Annual EFG Meeting. Add all these together for a total of 75 webinars!

Our second Brown Bag of 2021, or 76th webinar, is on Thursday, June 17 and is entitled “Support Vector Regression”. In addition to Ordinary Least Squares, there are a variety of modeling methods that are linear in parameters and include the word Regression in their name. These include Ridge, Lasso, Elastic Net, Quantile and Support Vector. This Brown Bag session provides an overview of these methods and a deep dive on Support Vector Regression. A session not to be missed by fellow forecasters, data analysts and data scientists!

Participation is free, but prior registration is required. Each seminar lasts approximately one hour, allowing 45 minutes for the presentation and 15 minutes for questions. Webinars start at noon Pacific time. If you can’t attend or missed one, don’t worry! Your registration ensures that a link to access the recording will be sent to you automatically.
